The Fast Track Trampoline

Trampolines... nostalgic, fun, and gives you a sense of freedom and movement that is hard to compare to. But surely there is a way that trampolines can be incorporated into the lives of everyday men and women to up the fun scale, even on your commute to work?

In Russia, Archstoyanie is a creative festival that is held annually in the forest of Nikola-Lenivets. Last November (2012), Salto architects produced an interactive piece called 'Fast Track'. This resulted in a 170 foot long trampoline that was created and built to “attempt to create intelligent infrastructure that is emotional and corresponds to the local context, giving the user a different experience of moving and perceiving the environment.”

Even though this was installed as a creative piece in a festival, it begs the question, would it be such a bad decision to think outside the normal realms of how we get around? I personally know nothing about the forest it is located in, whether it's a creepy dark area full of weird noises and a place you wouldn't go at night especially by yourself. Or whether it is perfectly open and accessible with no real safety concerns. But if this forest is just one example of an area that can cut through roads and congested traffic, work could be a hop, skip and jump away. Exploring new ways of commuting other than driving, cycling, walking or public transport, could ease some of the congestion of the current situation, plus you would probably get there faster and safer. Even with all the serious thoughts and concerns aside, how cool would it be to take a trampoline to work?! Found here.
