Balancing Blocks

These Balancing Blocks by product designers, Fort Standard, have taken the humble building blocks to a whole new level. So there was Lego, Jenga and those random rectangular wooden blocks of different lengths and colours that some of us would have grown up with, but these geometric wonders take imagination and patience to a whole new level. They look like the discarded little bit of crayons that have been used a little too much, but I tell you what... I'm very tempted to buy some. As someone who has always liked hands on activities and making things, I am slightly jealous that these kinds of 'play things' can now me readily available to kids growing up these days. That being said, it's a nice change from all the digital and technological solutions for entertaining children in this day and age.

After seeing these Balancing Blocks though, I couldn't help but make the connection to the famous spectacle that can be seen on Vancouver's Seawall near English Bay and West Vancouver shores. Without the use of glue or any other stabilising material, these rock balancers have an uncanny ability to balance seemingly random rocks on top of each other.I wonder how much fun they'd have experimenting with Fort Standard's version of Balancing Blocks.
